Adele - 25

Adele isn't that good.

She just isn't. I mean, she can sing better than I can. But that's like saying she sounds better than a dog puking.

Her lyrics are hackneyed, and written to make the lowest common denominator think they can understand complexity of thought and emotion.

Adele has pretty much one topic on the album 25. Love. To expand on that theory though, there's also loss, betrayal and a plethora of other predictable love oriented concepts.

The album is about as deep as the puddle of aforementioned dog puke. Stick a finger in there, and you'll discover it doesn't even sink in.

The orchestration is average.

The art is average.

All of which leads me to wonder how Adele is even famous?

Then, I looked at a picture of her. She isn't beautiful by any mainstream standards. She certainly isn't skinny. In an era where body positive ideals are abundant, we must be latching on to someone who isn't a typical beauty and making them famous to help all the other overweight women in the world feel like they can accomplish anything.

And honestly, if obesity is the only reason Adele is a celebrity (it certainly isn't her music), I'm mostly OK with that.

Our world has become obsessed with physical appearance, and we judge far too much on presentation. If Adele's celebrity makes another overweight woman feel like her physical attributes are not an encumbrance to her success level in life, then I will say something I won't say too often.

Bravo.

Ladies and gentleman, I urge and beseech you to never let anyone tell you that you aren't attractive.

Maybe your weight is unhealthy. And maybe you want to get in shape again to enjoy sports, hiking, or other physical activities. But don't ever believe you aren't beautiful as you.

Be beautiful in your heart and in your mind. That's where it's important.

However, if Adele is famous strictly off of her musical capabilities, we need to reassess our music tastes as a populace.

In short. Be happy with who you are, but don't write terrible music.

And then she went and lost all the weight, and now is just a mediocre performer with average song writing. Nothing that should be famous at all.
